Marimekko fabrics, are created by some of Finlands top designers. Featuring a wonderful range of colours and patterns, these fabrics are works of art in their own right. Between 1949 and 1987 Maija Isola designed over 500 fabric prints for Marimekko, many of which are included in Marimekko's current fabric collection. Many of the motifs for the fabrics of the 1950s express Isola's deep love of nature. The precise natural forms of the designs were achieved by using real plants when exposing the patterns Based in Helsinki the company made important contributions to fashion, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. They were made famous in the United States by Jacqueline Kennedy.who bought eight Marimekko dresses which she wore throughout the 1960 US Presidential campaign. Presented in the latest Tapestry style or as a Block Mounted Wall Hanging,Marimekko designs can change the whole feel of a room, giving vibrancy to an otherwise bland space. " It's a perfect marriage of the new and old "
